poly evolver vs prophet 12

Would love to try a poly. I read the same thing about the Mono Evolvers having a hotter audio output. Yeah that's the way to go. by Tooths » Wed Jan 01, 2014 5:19 pm, Post I wrote some of the factory programs in the PEK. In fact you worked on presets for ANdromeda? VS is one of nicest sounding hybrids ever. I would definitely go for a Prophet 12..really like the sound and the interface. When you use DSI's poly chain feature, do the chained synths automatically react to every knob movement and program change on the master keyboard? Official Company Forums - Proudly Hosted at Muff's! The keyboard is semi-weighted with velocity and aftertouch, the wood end caps and overall design make for a great, classic look. The P12 seems great though--added polyphony, arpeggiator, etc. However in any of the cases you have sort of hybrid synthesizers so definitely a complement for a rig with digital and analogs monos and poly synths. The PEK is such an awesome synth so I can imagine it sounds pretty insane having those all chained together. Any music gear discussions that don't fit into one of the other forums. Which would you? There have only been a few for sale in the last year. PEk is an excellent option if you have other poly synths with more voices and mono synths because it is one of a kind, with the effects, sequencer and endless knobs you can create very different sounds that others can´t. Cookies help us deliver our Services. I do this. €1600 budget = [P'08 Rev2 16 voice] vs [2x P'08 Rev2 8 voice] vs [P'08 Rev2 8 + ???] Yeah, I saw that there was a poly rack on Ebay a few weeks ago. Really digging the full stereo spectrum and crossover between the analog/digital voice hybrid architecture. ]. admittedly, I don't use the evolvers as much as my other digital synths. Also the Mono Evolver is a good choice. :), Hey all, FYI I've posted a 2nd demo on the 12-voice DSI Poly Evolver here:, New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, More posts from the synthesizers community, Press J to jump to the feed. The good thing in my opinion about the DSI stuff is it's new, so one day soonish it will be widely avail used. Mine are 253 and 421. Last thought, since they are new can you go play test them somewhere? I've been pretty dang happy with my PEK and find more and more to explore with it. I own a red one (number 21) which I guess was the color you prefered right? The VS is similar to other synths like Solaris however it is also one of a kind (no wonder why Bowen worked in both synths) And the p 12 has impressed me on the last demo made by Katsunori Ujie, it made me think that any flagship synth in the right hands can make endless possibilities. Of course more often than not there are strengths of each that users might prefer one variable important moreso than another, which would make the decision easier. vs [??? Which would you. by Captain Sternn » Thu Nov 28, 2013 6:26 pm, Post The Evolvers are unique synths. I've owned a VS and played a PEK a lot. If you could only choose 1, which would it be and why: Prophet VS PolyEvolver Prophet 12 If you could only choose 1, which would it be and why: Prophet VS PolyEvolver Prophet 12 Prophet VS vs. PolyEvolver vs. Prophet 12 - Gearslutz Will create some demos soon... for those who have owned, what have your experiences been like with it? They don't turn up very often. Sorry for the op that this is off topic but not all days you can have conversation with the man himself. Would like to get some hands on time with one, probably at NAMM since no GC in LA area seems to have them. its pitfall is lack of any realtime control. What's the deal with the 12 voice? Huge pallet of sounds. Sure wish the Prophet 12 did poly-chain ... That is awesome! So cool that you have two of those units. Obviously the rest of the synth has many differences. Nice! Poly Evolver - its really awesome and different. Really digging the full stereo spectrum and crossover between the analog/digital voice hybrid architecture. Just a friendly reminder that political discussion, (including "offhand" and 'sideways' commenting) is. :D. Is there an internal difference on the Red Andromedas? Is it custom? It looks like a more mature synth. Then there's always the Ambika too.. Not sure about the P12, like mentioned the you tube demos leave a lot to be desired. humongous, warm sonically superior analog section to others. The Poly Evolver finally answered prayers for a truly hands-on, programmable synthesizer version of the Evolver, and Dave Smith went all out on this one. Although the PE seems to not be as avail used as some of the other DSI items. by GovernorSilver » Thu Jan 02, 2014 4:20 pm, Powered by phpBB® Forum Software © phpBB Limited. Hey there! Playing ambient chillout space music on 12-voice DSI POLY EVOLVER digital/analog synthesizer keyboard + 2 racks. Well my rig right now consists entirely of Analog monos and polys and a Prophet VS, which I think is great. Will let you know when a demo is posted, it should be quite the sonic experience. The PEK contains the same digital waveforms as the ProphetVS. Even a Poly Evolver with 4 standard voices sounds big... but with 12 polychained voices, it starts to approach extreme wall of sound potential. Dave Smith Instruments unleashes the Prophet 12 Synthesizer. The P12 also doesn't have the L/R oscillator and filter signal path, which can deliver some serious awesome sauce. Only poly I want more is the CS-80. imo its up there with the greats like ppg, eii, fii, wave. I do think it sounds huge, it provides a nice contrast to my analogs, and I like it's worth over twice what I paid for it. by ActionMaxVA » Tue Dec 31, 2013 8:02 pm, Post I really like my VS and plan on keeping it for now. Yep, I know that. Plus it carried over some of the best aspects of the PE. I kept the PE and have sold the P08 thinking someday I might get a P12. the P12 in videos doesn't sound cool enough to spend 3K IMO. however iirc it listens to sysex so something like Remote Zero SL on the side would work. Willtherebe demos posted? I think the PEK is fantastic, but the it is basically a P08 and a PVS in-one. by pelican » Thu Nov 28, 2013 7:28 pm, Post, by stikygum » Tue Dec 31, 2013 11:46 pm, Post I just sold my little desktop mono, which is sort of disappointing, but it was under the strictest condition that the poly that my father owns won't be sold to anyone but me in the future. by EMwhite » Tue Dec 31, 2013 10:24 am, Post ;). by fac » Thu Nov 28, 2013 7:41 pm, Post Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts, Juno-106/JP-8000/JD-Xi/System-1/TR8/VT3/MX1/JV-1080/Push, Jupiter-6/SH-101/JX-8P/AX60/Poly-800/DS-8/TR-727/Eurorack, DSI-Pro 2|Pro'08|Tempest|MEK|MophoKeys|0B-6|Tetra|ToraizSP16|, OB-8/VS/P600/Pro-One/106/PolyEvolver/PolySix/DX7, my YT:, JDXA, OB6, Model D, Circuit, Electribe ER, Push, Minimoog Voyager OS / Korg SV-1 / Roland JU-06, Sub 37,Prophet 12,MS-20,MS-20M,Virus TI,Evolver,Nord G2, Eurocrack , Octatrack , VoyagerXL , Prophet12. The racks + Poly Evolver audio levels do not have this issue, the levels are consistent across all 3 pieces of hardware. Hmm... perhaps you could've kept the Mono and polychained to the PEK for 5 voices? Of course that is my taste as far as the overdrive. Man I regret selling that rack. Good Luck. It'd be great to see a more modern version of a hardware vector synth. I guess I'd set up the 'problem' like this, I put my own preferences in bold: the PEK is so amazing. I can only imagine how thick and monstrous 12 voices of this must sound. I waited on my Tempest and saved 25%. This is my first DSI synth and I find it has unique sonic characteristics... sort of a noise/metallic feedback machine that can be tamed enough to produce actual music, lol. Not sure you're right about that. by GuyaGuy » Wed Jan 01, 2014 3:02 am, Post Moderators: Kent, Joe., luketeaford, lisa, Post
